SugarCon speakers, and some self-congratulations…
Jan 22nd, 2008 by Martin Schneider
Putting together conferences is hard…as an analyst I was at a different conference every other week it seemed, and I think I took for granted all the hard work involved in putting together not only a seamless event, but also getting cool and relevant speakers.
So, when we started planning our SugarCon event to be held Feb 6-8, I got a rude awakening in terms of all the planning that goes into it. Our team did an amazing job, and I think they got some really cool speakers set up for the event.
As a budding blogger, I am super stoked to meet Daniel Lyons or “Fake Steve Jobs.” Lyons has an amazing ability to distill the tech world into an entertaining and irreverent pose as his alter-ego Fake Steve Jobs.
Also, Sun’s Jonathan Schwartz was a pretty prescient booking - now that Sun is basically the largest open source company, and the timeliness of the MySQL acquisition will make for a great speech I’m sure.
And I think the fact that both Oracle and Microsoft are taking part shows that open source is really penetrating everywhere, and the commercial open source model will be part of every technology provider’s MO in the near future.
Ok, enough patting ourselves on the back…
