Manoj Javadevan, SugarCRM’s senior director of product marketing, outlined some of the hot announcements that partners, customers, and the media can expect to hear from SugarCRM over the coming year.
At the top is Sugar Data Center Edition (DCE), a new product offering built on top of the Sugar 5.0 framework. DCE will be a standalone software solution for deploying/managing many of Sugar Professional, Sugar Enterprise, and Community Edition instances, verticals, and future Sugar Platform Edition creations. Its intended audience will be OEM partners and enterprise customers.
DCE will lower total cost of ownership for IT departments and data centers and will automate Sugar On-Demand deployments and maintenance. As it stands right now, expect DCE 1.0 sometime in Q2 of 2008, with DCE 2.0 in Q4.
Manoj also outlined Sugar 6.0 which will beef up SugarCRM’s offerings with deeper CRM features, targeted for large enterprises, with PRM functionality, sales territory management, and timesheets and expense modules. Wireless functionality will also be a major focus, as will be Web services, allowing customers to leverage Module Builder to create new Web services for mashups and Sugar On-Demand.
As has always been the case with product roadmaps, SugarCRM’s open source community drove the enhancements and will be responsible for ironing out any bugs. Stay tuned…
